GPSR example: what a compliant Shopify product page shows
A worked example of a product page with the GPSR information from Article 19: manufacturer, EU responsible person, identifier and warnings, point by point.

Article 19 GPSR says what an online offer has to contain. It does not say what it looks like. This example shows one product page with every point filled in, so you can see what each requirement turns into in practice. The product, the companies and the addresses are made up.
What each point means is explained in GPSR requirements for Shopify product pages.
The example product
A scented candle sold by a Shopify store in Germany. The candle is made by a company outside the EU, which is why the page needs a responsible person.
Soy wax candle “Cedar & Salt”, 220 g Model number: CS-220 · Batch: 2026-09-A
Manufacturer Example Candle Co. Ltd, 12 Sample Road, Anytown AB1 2CD, United Kingdom hello@example.com · example.com
Responsible person in the EU Example EU Representation GmbH, Musterstraße 1, 10115 Berlin, Germany eu-contact@example.com
Warnings and safety information Burn the candle on a heat-resistant surface. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not move the candle while it is burning or the wax is liquid.
Point by point
Manufacturer: Article 19(a)
The block gives a name, a postal address and an electronic address. All three are needed: the name or trade mark identifies the manufacturer, and the two addresses let someone reach it. A company name alone, or a website without a postal address, does not meet the point.
Responsible person in the EU: Article 19(b)
The manufacturer is in the United Kingdom, so the page names someone established in the EU, with a postal and an electronic address. If the manufacturer were in Germany, this block would be left out, and the manufacturer’s details would stand on their own.
Product identification: Article 19(c)
The offer allows the product to be identified through the picture (not shown here), the type, which is the product name “Soy wax candle”, and the identifiers: a model number and a batch number. Where a product has no batch or serial number, a model number or SKU can carry the point.
Warnings and safety information: Article 19(d)
The page repeats what is printed on the product or its packaging. A candle’s wording is not the same as a toy’s or a chemical’s. A toy has age warnings and small-parts warnings; a detergent has hazard and precautionary statements. What goes into this block for your product comes from the product and its documents, not from this example.
What the example leaves out
- Languages. A shop selling in several countries shows the information in each market’s language. Article 19(d) asks for a language consumers can easily understand, as set by the Member State.
- Supplier confirmation. As a reseller, you keep the supplier’s written confirmation on file. It does not appear on the page.
- Details on the product itself. Separate rules cover the information on the product, the packaging or an enclosed document, such as the manufacturer’s name and address and a type or batch number.
How to build the same page in Shopify
The page above is one text block per point. In Shopify there are two ways to get there:
- By hand. Create a metafield for each block and connect it to your product template through a dynamic source. This is covered step by step in how to add GPSR information to Shopify.
- With GPSR Compliance Manager. Create the manufacturer and the responsible person once under Manage Entities, pick them on the product, add the warnings, and place the GPSR Compliance block in the theme editor. The widget shows the manufacturer, the responsible person and the warnings in the language the shopper browses your store in. It needs an Online Store 2.0 theme. Batch number, serial number and date of manufacture are fields on the product, shown when you switch on Show traceability information in widget; a model number stays in your product title or description.
The app stores and shows what you enter. It does not check whether the information is complete or correct under the GPSR.
